Have you ever lost something and desperately tried to find it?
Today, I am going to share stories about how things we thought were lost forever were Miraculously Found! First, we will look at a Bible story about Lost Things Found. Then, I will share testimonies about items miraculously found.
Elisha and the Axe Head
Elisha was traveling with the sons of the prophets to a new home around the Jordan River. When they arrived, they were cutting down trees. Suddenly, the axe head flew off and fell into the Jordan River.
One of the men cried out, and said, “Oh no, my master! It was borrowed!” (2 Kings 6:5 AMP) Elisha responded by asking him to point out where the axe fell into the river.
I did a little research and according to the scholars, the area of the Jordan River where Elisha and the men were camped would have been deep water with rapids.
Here comes the miracle — Elisha cut off a stick and threw it into the river and the axe head, which was made of iron, floated to the surface!
So, how did an axe head, made of iron, float to the surface?
The man who borrowed the axe was certainly worried and concerned, because the axe head was borrowed. God cares about these things that concern us.
“Casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully] (1 Peter 5:7 AMP).
Lost Things Found
The first time I heard about God returning something that was lost was from Bobby Conner. He has lost the pocket knife that a dear friend had given him. One day while in a hotel room he shouted into the air — I Want My Knife Back!
It wasn’t that the knife has a significant monetary value, nor did Bobby need the knife in order to continue his ministry. The knife was a symbol of a long friendship and filled with sentimental value.
Miraculously — God returned the knife to him. God dropped it right on his hotel bed!
When we hear other testimonies, it encourages us to believe for ourselves. So, I tried it on something I lost!
I was driving to a meeting out-of-state when I realized I was only wearing one of my diamond stud earrings. The earrings were special, a gift from my husband. I looked everywhere I could think, all through the car, my purse, and did not find it. I thought I must have left the matching one at home.
When I returned from my trip I searched my jewelry box for the earring — no luck. I checked the floors, closets, everywhere and could not find it. About a week or so went by, and I decided to vacuum over the floors one more time to see if I could catch it in the vacuum cleaner bag, but nothing turned up.
Afterwards, I walked into my bathroom and I noticed a single diamond earring on top of my black jewelry box. I thought I had left the remaining earring out, and when I opened my jewelry box to return it — Miraculously there was my other diamond earring!
I totally freaked out! I called my husband and told him all about it. We were both stunned by God’s miracle of returning my diamond earring!
Another time, I was driving home from our cabin in the mountains, and I stopped for coffee. I went into the coffee shop and when I came out the iPOD I had lost over 1 YEAR AGO was sitting on my console.
I screamed and was afraid to touch it! Finally, after I was able to pull myself together — I called my husband and we celebrated God’s goodness –
Miraculous — right?
I have one more story that has a little different type miracle in the Lost Things Found area.
My friend was leaving church one night, and someone had locked their keys in the car. There was a small group of people who gathered around trying everything they could to get the window open or pop the locks — but nothing worked.
My friend had her keys, and sensed that she was supposed to use her keys to open the other persons car door. Feeling a little awkward, she slipped her key into the car door and —
Miraculously it opened!
These stories have no explanation other than God is good — and He loves caring for the things we care about.
