Do you feel like things in your life are shifting? I know I do, but I cannot really identify where the shift is taking me — I just know there is a shift.
At our Revival Experiment I released a prophetic word about going upward. And as they took a step, the ground underneath their foot dissolved. This means there is no way to go backward, the only direction is up.
Life is shifting us to go forward and not take steps backward. This is a planned season by the Lord to keep us on His path as well as to position us into our next assignment.
What are some of the key indicators that you are in a Life Shift?
Sense Change
You have a strong sense that something is about to change. However, you don’t have anything concrete to base this knowing on. There is an expectation, but you wouldn’t know where to go to make it happen — you only sense something is definitely going to happen.
Out of Sync
With change pending yet unidentified, you get out of your usual routine where everything is needing to be thought through. You are walking in unfamiliar territory, which makes you feel out of sync.
I have a great example. As many of you know, I have recently moved from a home I lived in for 19 years. All the daily routines were without thought. This morning my husband was laughing as I circled the kitchen opening every cabinet trying to find a bowl. A shift has happened and I have yet to find my way.
Familiar Fades to the Background
When your life is in shift mode, you may notice things you loved no longer bring the same satisfaction. Whether it is your job, your hobbies, your routines, even some of your friendships may take a back seat to make room for the new to come in.
I am reminded of Deborah from the Book of Judges. She was a wife, a prophetess and a judge. She would sit under the palm tree while the people would come to her for wisdom and insight.
Deborah sent a message to Barak that it was time to take the troops and go to war. Barak sent word to Deborah, “If you will go with me, then I will go; but if you will not go with me, I will not go” (Judges 4:8 AMP).
Deborah’s life shifted. She left her place of familiar to lead the battle for God.
Perspective Change
Life Shifts open your vision and understanding. Your eyes become open to see things you may have never noticed. Life Shifts broaden your visual vantage point.
I love the story from 2 Kings 6 where the prophet Elisha and his servant were surrounded by the enemy. The servant is terrified by what he sees with his natural eyes.
But Elisha responds, “Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Then Elisha prays and said, “Lord, please, open his eyes that he may see.” And the Lord opened the servant’s eyes and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire surrounding Elisha” (2 Kings 6:17-17 AMP).
His perspective was changed by God, so he would have a broader view of what surrounded them.
In closing, I want to encourage you to ask God to open your eyes to see reality. Life Shifts can create uncertainty about where you are going. But God is walking with you through this Life Shift each step of the way.
“Trust in the Lord completely, and do not rely on your own
opinions. With all your heart rely on him to guide you, and he will
lead you in every decision you make. Become intimate with him
in whatever you do, and he will lead you wherever you go”
(Proverbs 3:5-6 TPT).
I would love to hear about your life shift.
