Living in Your SweetSpot

As I am writing this, I am watching the 2019 Women’s Tennis Finals at Wimbledon in England. Wimbledon is one of the five grand slam tournaments where only the most elite athletes are able to compete.

The two players, Serena Williams and Simone Halep have prepared every day to compete at this level. They have spent years training their bodies, with hours of practice, proper nutrition and working with coaches so this day could become a reality.

They are living in what I would call their sweet-spot.

What is a sweet-spot?

The sweet-spot is a place where a combination of factors results in a maximum response for a given amount of effort.

Let’s talk about how you can live in your sweet-spot. It is definitely possible once you determine the combination of factors you need, decide the amount of effort it will take to get the maximum results. Then your sweet-spot comes alive in your day-to-day.

Let’s break it down step by step to get you to living in your sweet-spot.

I have developed an easy to remember acronym: MAPPR. It is a 5-step process to guide you through and keep you in your sweet-spot.

Maximize the place you launch

Aligning your habits in position and timing

Power boost your accuracy, focus, and confidence

Peacenot Chaos — Surround Your Day

Realizing Your Outcome

1. (M) Maximize the place you launch:

I think how you start the day many times determines what kind of day you’re going to have. Joel Osteen (AZ Quotes)

The way you set up your day, determines whether you are going to have the maximum response from the effort you put into it, in other words, staying in your sweet-spot. This also establishes our mindset for the day.

Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established. Proverbs 16:3 ESV

At the beginning of each morning, we are to commit our work to Him so our plans are established.

The word established, means firm, secure, steadfast.

I launch my day with two non-negotiable steps.

First, I spend time with the Lord. Each morning, I sit with my Bible, journal and coffee. I read and talk to the Lord. Once I get finished, then the exercise begins.

I am out the door for some exercise. For me, exercise really helps me prepare for the day. I exercise 6 days a week and vary my exercise between working out at the gym, playing tennis, and running.

My spirit, mind, emotions and physical body are maximized for the day. My spirit is aligned with the Spirit of God, I have clarity of mind, and my physical body has the energy to be strong and endure the day.

What are some of the ways you start your day to maximize your day?

2. (A) Alignment = Positioning and Timing

Once you have set up your sweet spot for the day, you are ready to begin the positioning and the timing of the day to be aligned in your sweet-spot. This is so critical. And please understand, this is more than filling up your calendar. It is learning to align as you define your identity, purpose, and plan.

We begin with positioning. Position is the place within your day with things that need to be accomplished. When you understand the positioning, then you will know the timing which things need to be accomplished.

You start by making a list of what needs to be done, in order of the importance you need to do them.

What is your important thing, that needs a position into your day to align for your greatest outcome?

Right now, I am in the various stages of writing 3 books — They hold an important position in my work day. I do not work on all of them on the same day. I work on the one book determined by the importance of what is needed to be done.

Now it comes to TIMING. Once you finish, you determine how long each one will take to complete. Personally, I do this for a week at a time. This way I have the whole picture of positioning and timing, which gives more flexibility to plan my schedule.

This can be overwhelming when you first start. I can guarantee, as you get use to this system, you will find it freeing and empowering.

I have a mindset that I use when I follow this and frankly I hold that mindset throughout my day. When I feel like I don’t have enough time to do somethings, I began to declare — I have more than enough time to accomplish what I need to do — Space opens up, appointment reschedules, God shows me the position I need to be in so I am able to get things done.

You have more than enough time to accomplish what you need to do.

The Word says, “May He grant you your heart’s desire, And fulfill all your plans.” Psalm 20:4 ESV

3) (P) Power boost your accuracy, focus, and confidence

When we set up our day with MAP, then you will see a boost of power, accuracy, focus, and confidence that leads you to your sweet- spot….

Everything we have planned aligns from the process, for you to land in your sweet spot of the day.

As you apply these to each day, it builds accuracy by enabling you to discern what you are really to be focused on. And being focused builds your confidence. You know you are able to accomplish what you have set out to do.

Remember the more you practice the greater skill and discernment you will gain!

4) (P) Peace — not Chaos — Surrounds Your Day

You will find peace in your day because you have set your day in this way.  For protection from meltdowns, to prevent chaos, align your day with MAP and peace will follow.

You still may have a day or two that falls apart on you, or that is riddled with interruptions, but you will know what to do. Go back to where you left off and begin to build again from there.

5) (R) Realizing Your Outcome

With the close of each day, you will be able to realize your outcome

All the effort you have put into your day, synergies with the right combinations of factors, giving you maximum outcome realized. Your focus will become sharper and you will reside in your sweet spot more often.

You can live in your sweet-spot with MAPPR!!
