Embracing Our Assignment

I went on a sabbatical for a week to hear from God and prepare for the next couple of months. I also wanted to work through the timing of the goals I had set.

God began to talk to me about my assignment. And frankly, I did think I was doing my assignment. What I didn’t realize is that I had added goals that were good, but did not aligned with God’s assignment.

Immediately, God had me delete three goals! As I looked at the shortened list, a new excitement arose in me. I could see the correlation of the refined, more focused vision.

Since returning God gave me Scriptures, which have empowered me in this journey to stay focused and on-point. He gave me the verses and then an explanation of how to apply these to our assignments.

As I share them, I pray for you to hear clearly and connect precisely with God’s assignment.

#1 It is about Order

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty” (Revelation 1:8 NIV).

God placed the emphasis on the order of time, who is, and who was, and who is to come.

Who is speaks of the present. It is understanding what is happening now. When you are able to perceive the now, then you are able to discern whether opportunities align with your assignment or not.

Who was is about the past. We are able to learn by looking back, but we cannot stay in the past and go forward at the same time.

Who is to come, beckons us to partner with God for our future. And as we do we are able to keep the momentum going forward.

#2 Do Not be Afraid

“When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last”” (Revelation 1:17 NIV).

Assignments from the Lord can create a sense of nervousness, overwhelm and even fear of not being able to accomplish them. The Lord is telling us to fear not! He is always with us and will see us through from the beginning to the end.

#3 This is New

“Listen carefully, I am about to do a new thing, Now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it? I will even put a road in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert” (Isaiah 43:19 AMP)

The Lord highlighted the word now. In our assignments, we will be asked to do things that are completely new to us. And we will be asked to try a new way, not the way we are comfortable with.

#4 Document

“Write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after this” (Revelation 1:19 NIV).

It is important to document your assignment, the progress you are making and the next steps. When you write these things down you have clarity, you are able to stay organized and on task.

#5 Stand on the Bridge

“He will glorify and honor Me, because He (the Holy Spirit) will take from what is Mine and will disclose it to you” (John 16:14 AMP).

Holy Spirit is our bridge to stand on! He gives us all that we need to accomplish our assignments. We are fully equipped and empowered by Him.

In closing, I want to share a personal note from my assignments. God is taking me to new understandings and two of them are:

Do not assume to do things the same way as you use to.

Always inquire of Me, and I will give you My best way to accomplish your assignment.

This has been a real challenge to me because I like to figure things out and set up a process for the next time. And yes, there are a few things I can still do this way. But for the most part, I have a quick conversation with God for His BEST.

What is happening with your assignments?
