Actively Waiting on Your Dreams

I am continuing with the series from my new book, God’s Dream for Your Life. Today, we will dig into what “actively waiting” looks like as we “wait” for our dreams to be fulfilled.

Before we get started, I have a question to ask you.

God has BIG dreams & plans for your life —

Are you living them?

I have developed a quiz to help you identify where you are on your journey and what might be your next steps.

Quiz

To start this topic of the waiting for the dream, here is a quote from author and poet Sandra Cisneros.

“One press account said I was an overnight success.
I thought that was the longest night I’ve ever spent.”1

What dream are you waiting on?

These are a few from others who have shared with me:

  • Finding a Love
  • Discovering their Passion and Purpose
  • Clarity in the next step
  • Starting a business
  • Healing

Many times we can become weary as we are in the process of waiting, discouragement can begin to set in, hopelessness replaces our heart of expectancy — sometimes to the point we wonder if we should give up.

There have been times while waiting, I have wondered if the breakthrough would ever come. One particular time, I knew it was time to take the next step, but what I didn’t know was where the step was! I lacked clarity.

Has that ever happened to you?

When I would try to test out different areas, they didn’t work. And there were definitely times I was discouraged by the inability to move forward.

Looking back, I realized the reason it did not work was because it was not the right step. But, I would have never figured it out unless I tried.

How do we do “actively wait”?

Here are 5 Steps of “active waiting” you can do as you “wait” for your dreams to be fulfilled.

  1. Change Your Mindset

In our pursuit of the end goal, there are times we miss the little victories on the path to our dreams.

For me, changing my mindset is a deliberate decision. I choose to go from a mindset of weariness to focusing on the things in my life that are working. I write down all the positive things that are occurring.

Changing your mindset is a choice. Choose to focus on the positive that is occurring now.

2) Be Excellent in all You do

Excellence is not to be confused with perfection. Excellence is giving our very best, being willing to learn from others and acquire more training — if needed. Excellence builds our character. Others want to be around people who prioritize excellence — myself included.

I have a dear friend who does everything with such excellence. And I love being around her, because her excellence rubs off on me. Her excellence challenges me to excel in the things I do.

3) Remembering Previous Dreams Fulfilled

I find great encouragement when I remember other dreams which have been fulfilled in my life.

Here are a two examples of victories I have used to encourage me.

— I remember working so hard on my first book, and the excitement when I held it in my hand for the first time.

— Realizing I was able to go back to school and complete my doctorate.

When we remember our victories, we are encouraged and strengthened to keep pushing forward! Memorials keep faith alive.

4) Reviewing Your Whys and Hows

Reviewing why this dream burns in our heart and how it will make you feel when the dream comes to life will dispel the lie of discouragement.

Keeping the why in front of you can be done by writing it down and sticking it where you can see it. As you read over it each day, it will help reignite the passion buried deep down inside of you.

5) Don’t Give up

Keep focused on your dream and don’t give up. Many times your dream fulfillment is just around the corner, and you don’t recognize it. And all it takes is a little extra push to see your dreams become a reality.

Here is an excerpt from my book to encourage you in your waiting.

In 2003, I went to Taiwan as part of a team to teach on prayer, healing and deliverance. One of the leaders was a young pastor named Charity Chen. She had been afflicted with polio as a small child and she needed metal braces and forearm crutches to walk.

In 1986, during a time of healing prayer, the bones in her feet began to move, but it was not enough for her to do without the crutches or rid her of the constant pain.

However, I received a newsletter awhile back and one of the articles was “Jesus Healed Me!” It was Charity’s story of how she has now been completely healed. The interesting part of the article was that no one was praying for healing; they were all praying for guidance in Charity’s next steps.

And suddenly, her bones in her legs and feet began to move until she was completely healed and pain-free. She took off the metal braces and danced for over an hour!

I would enjoy hearing your challenges and victories in the waiting.

Have you read my new book, God’s Dream for Your Life?

Here are a few quotes from others who have read my book:

This book is a must read! Whether you have dreams that feel unattainable or you’re wanting to simply dream bigger then this book is for you! You will not be disappointed in this book! Heather W.

This book is all about purpose. If you are struggling understanding your purpose please consider reading this and diving into God’s dream for your life. Let me quote something in the book that was impactful “Many of you, too, will find your purpose becoming clearer as you grow in relationship with God” This book is filled with powerful revelation that will change the way you think. The author is captivating by making it simple and biblical. I really loved how normal she described God’s dream for our lives. The book was inspiring and very encouraging. I realized that I was trying to dream with God while trying to do it myself. After reading this I decided to dream so big that only God can fulfill them, and that I don’t have to do it myself. I highly recommend this book. We have also begun a bible study/book study on this book. Rob
